Driving Position Memory System (1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position. (2) Position the driver’s seat and outside mirrors to the Primary Driver’s preferences. (Secondary driver preferences are set using the same method.) (3) Press and release the MEMO button on the driver’s door. After a single beep press and hold one of the memory buttons (1 or 2). After the system completes storing a new driving position there will be 2 beeps. (4) To select a memorized position, make sure the shift lever is in the Park (P) position and press the desired memory button (1 or 2) until you hear a beep. The seat and outside mirrors will move to the memorized positions. Maintenance Minder The transition from a traditional service schedule to the Maintenance Minder system can be confusing to some customers. Walk customers through the Maintenance Minder system, noting the details below: (1) Refer to the Owner’s Manual - Maintenance Minder section for complete instructions. (2) Explain the Engine Oil Life display (when the remaining engine oil life is less than 15%, the indicator light will stay on every time vehicle is started). (3) Explain that the Maintenance Minder shows which services are needed through codes. FUEL ECONOMY Fuel economy is an important issue with consumers. Use the information below to help your customer set realistic fuel economy expectations and to explain ways to achieve the maximum fuel economy possible. ? The values on the Monroney label are based on (model year) EPA mileage estimates, reflecting new EPA fuel economy methods beginning with 2008 models. Use for comparison purposes only. ? Do not compare to models before 2008. Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle. ? One set of estimates cannot predict precise fuel economy for all drivers in all environments. Fuel economy estimates are intended as a useful tool to compare the consumption rates of different vehicles. ? For more information, visit the EPA website at www.fueleconomy. gov. (1) Perform one final inspection of the vehicle with the customer and ensure that any interior damage is resolved before the customer leaves the dealership. (2) Give the customer the Honda Owner Link web address: www.ahm-ownerlink.com . Advise them that they can search for model-specific information, including feature demonstrations under “My Odyssey” as well as helpful Service/Maintenance information. (3) Hand the customer the Quick Start Guide. Demonstrate the ease of looking up functions. (4) Give the customer the HandsFreeLink phone number, 800-528-7876, and have them refer to the Owner Link website for support. Honda Odyssey Road Tests
At the time most pe-ople movers were based upon commercial variants in a manufacturers range and the vehicle from a distance looked more like a delivery van with windows. Move forward to the present time and look at the new Honda Odyssey. A purpose built vehicle that since its initial release in 1996 has been constantly improved and refined. DISLIKES Centre sash only seat belt for second row seats Slightly awkward to use auto shifter Low height of rear hatch COMFORT The front seats are soft and comfortable although support falls away somewhat under hard cornering especially in the shoulder area.
The second rows are similarly comfortable with adequate legroom. The third row has a more upright seating position, not ideal for longer trips but still comfortable enough for adults. ERGONOMICS The driving position is closer to a normal passenger car or wagon in that it is lower than the previous high perched positions of the older generation people movers. Smaller drivers will notice the front of the Odyssey drops away quite sharply making parking slightly more difficult. The instrument binnacle has some of the most modern in design gauges going around, lit in Honda’s blue hues.
Audio controls on the steering wheel are simple to use as are the large, easy to identify controls for heating and radio centrally located on the dash. The Odyssey has a under dash foot operated handbrake, it is simple to operate and increases space around the drivers seat. The centre console is hinged and can be swung out of the way to make access to the second row of seats easier. Smaller items rattle around inside the console when flipped down, which is somewhat distracting.
SAFETY The new Odyssey benefits from the latest thinking on occupant safety by providing a crash compatible body that can withstand collisions from any direction, reducing occupant injury and providing a passenger survival space. Honda’s safety strategy is not limited to the occupants inside the Odyssey . Engineers have designed the vehicle to minimise aggressive impact to other vehicles.
The front row seats have three point, load limiter equipped, pre-tensioner seat belts. The centre seat in the second row has only a sash type seatbelt; Honda falls behind its competitors in this important area.
